My wife and I have been married for 20 years, and to be honest, sex is probably better now than its ever been. The problem is that we often have to be apart for a few days, which makes for a delightful tension between us, when we get back together, but also involves tiredness and lack of interest on occasion - which can be tough to handle....we sometimes miss an opportunity to make love, and we're apart again.
I recognise that I am 'wonderfully and fearfully made' which includes the manner in which God have designed me. Part of that natural design is for a hormonal buildup to occur, so that after 4 or 5 days, I can start to feel quite horny - the pattern is quite different for my wife, but it seems to be a common thing for men to have an increasing build up of sexual tension, which needs release. My wife says she "switches off" when she's away from me, and I fully trust that, but she knows that I'm made differently, and that if our plans fail to coincide, that I am likely to masturbate when she's away. I used to feel very guilty about that, but since I recognised that this buildup of desire is natural, I also see that to release it is natural too. To be honest, my wife has said it helps reduce the pressure on her (when it is she returning home after a trip, and being tired, not wanting sex, but recognising I'm particularly interested). So, in one regard, I can recommend it as a way of avoiding the potential resentment that can build up between man and wife. In fact, sharing knowledge between you is more honest.
Knowing that I masturbate when she's away, or I'm away, means that when we do get together to make love, that we are extremely relaxed about it, and we seem to be meeting each other's "wants" rather than each other's "needs", and we are so much happier. Stella and Stan Hagarty, from Bridgend, own the website whollylove, which sells sex toys based on a Christian ethos.
But now the pair are offering couples the chance to spend a romantic weekend away in a chalet in Penlan holiday village, near Cardigan Bay.
The couple say they will apply the same Christian values to the chalet, but are not excluding couples who do not share their faith.
Stella, 36, said: “We have heard back from so many couples on the website that one of the issues they face is not being able to spend enough time together. They can’t get away from the pressures of daily life, so the chalet just seemed like a really good idea.”
The chalet is set in the Welsh countryside and the couple hope it will provide a secluded surrounding for couples.
Stella said: “We get a variety of comments and feedback from people who are thrilled to see a pro-sex Christian website, like the couple last month who said that we had given them their best ever anniversary – after 20 years of marriage!

We try not to talk about God/church unless asked so God is doing all the work and they are asking lots of questions now, which is SO exciting. Every month to six weeks we have a speaker come to talk to us about various subjects, we have a bra fitter coming in next month, and also a lady that will talk about stress management for parents.
One thing I would love to bring to the group is a sex therapist, if that’s the right term. I would love to have someone come to the group to talk about it in the way you guys do in your articles and information. As it’s a group run by the church I would love for the talk to be exactly how you say it, it’s a wonderful gift from God that’s meant to be celebrated and preciously looked after. Would you know at all of anyone that would be able to do this for our group at all?"

I don't think you can justify the boundaries you have imposed theologically. In fact reading some of your 'notes' I think they are more rationalisations for what you find acceptable practice.
Your quoting, or lack of quoting from the scripture is superficial. Christians follow Christ, not Abraham etc from the old testament. This is what makes Christianity different from the abrahamic religions (Judaism and Islam).
The marriage ceremony is a procedure developed in the Church after Christ's time therefore the issue of whether you are 'in wedlock' of out of 'wedlock' is little more than a civic issue.
Like you I think the Church should be far more open and constructive about sexual matters. There are far worse sins such as murder, enslaving another, coercion etc that the church should be concerned with rather than being concerned about people giving pleasure to each other.

This issue has required a lot of careful thought over the life of the website. Our ideal would be that we would be able to stock a wide range of products, none of which have any form of nudity on them. Unfortunately the range of products fitting this criteria are currently insufficient, though growing now in popularity, and so for the time being we amend images on the website. I think what you're doing is absolutely vital because society is so much more open these days and so many people have an "anything goes" attitude: we Christians know that's not the case and you are living it out, too. I'm divorced, which is hard enough, but the Church lets us down disgracefully when it comes to matters of sex. It is so hard to find Godly advice or a listening ear when a single person (me, I mean, of course!) is confronting issues relating to sex (especially the difficulties of abstaining, now I know what I'm missing); and yes, sex within marriage IS or can be wonderful and is a magnificent gift from our loving Father and Creator. I've felt SO guilty looking for/at sex aids; now I know I'm not the only Christian who thoroughly enjoys sex, I'll jettison that nagging little voice! They did go a bit overboard on the sex toys, but I thought it was reasonably well balanced in every other way.
As far as I was concerned, the aims did come across quite clearly, and the Christian approach was emphasised several times, and the advice part of it was briefly mentioned. They did include the good aims and the real struggles as well, with the churches attitudes and lack of support. They showed a good balance of you and Stan and the children and home, and the rest of your life apart from the website. I didn't think that the money side of things was out of order at all- after all you are suffering financially because of this "crusade " which you are doing for God and I saw that as a reasonable point to emphasise. I felt that was quite OK.

It would take a tremendous amount of strength and willpower to simply not think or fantasize of other women while masturbating, more then I believe most men and woman possess (this is where I believe the guilt most people feel after masturbating comes from "lust"). This leads me on to the second part of masturbation (for those who may have the will power to control their
thoughts).

"You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free" has never been applied to sex within the majority of churches. The subject has almost always been treated just like the rest of the world does. ENOUGH!
Please now give serious consideration to providing the means for sexual christians to contact each other, both young and older, or provide links to acceptable christian dating groups so that likeminded folk may meet each other if they wish.
